Technical Capability

Printing process
Litho and screen. Due to the natural characteristics of metallic/iridescent papers, deep solid areas of black or blue may be difficult to achieve. On press, it is normal for some of the special surface coating to transfer to the blanket. Blankets are likely to require cleaning after 4000 impressions or more.
Screen ruling
150 screen. Under-colour removal may be required on jobs with large dark areas.
Printing inks
Fully oxidising and UV inks
Embossing
Yes
Varnishing
Silk Screen UV varnishing is the only method to achieve a good gloss finish on this absorbent paper. Ensure sheet is pre-sealed with acrylic or glycol sealer. A matt UV varnish must be laid down prior to gloss UV varnishing. Repeat varnishings may be required. Other machine varnish applications are not recommended.
Sealing
Sealers can be used to avoid marking during further processing and handling, although the papers metallic nature will be compromised.
Hot foil blocking
Yes
Film laminating
The paper accepts laminates easily, although some 'silvering' may occur. Increase laminating pressure and apply excess adhesive to help reduce silvering. Laminates will reduce or negate the metallic effect.
Creasing
To guarantee good folding results, pre-creasing is recommended for grammages of 170g/m² and above. Creases should be made parallel to the grain of the board. A creasing rule and matrix system should also be used. Fold into the bead for prominent folds.
Spraying
The use of spray powder with a particle size of 35 microns or above is recommended when printing board weights.
Laser guaranteed
120g/m² metal paper weights are compatible with most desktop laser printers. Trials are recommended to test the quality. Cryogen White, Europa Ivory and Virtual Pearl are compatible with desktop laser printers for monochrome and simple colour graphics.
Inkjet guaranteed
120g/m² metal paper weights are compatible with most desktop monochrome inkjet printers. Trials are recommended to test the quality. Cryogen White, Europa Ivory and Virtual Pearl are compatible with desktop plain paper inkjet printers for monochrome and simple colour graphics.
