When the Central Office of Information (COI) commissioned the 2008 London Mayoral Election Candidates Booklet in advance of 1^st May, they required quality paper but they were also mindful of their responsibility to the environment.  This booklet was sent to every registered voter in London giving them vital information on the candidates standing for Mayor and the London Assembly and instructions on how to vote. The need to select papers that considered environmental and economic issues was therefore critical; Revive 50:50 Silk and Evolve Business, from the Robert Horne Group, were selected as their papers of choice to fulfil both their quality requirements and address environmental responsibilities.

310 tonnes of Revive 50:50 Silk 90 gsm, 870mm reels were used for the Candidates Booklet. Revive 50:50, is made from 50% recovered fibre and 50% virgin fibre, certified as an FSC mixed sources product.  This grade is designed to achieve a virgin fibre paper printing result in both quality and price, but with 50% recovered fibre it answers the need for a paper with full environmental credentials.

80 tonnes of Evolve Business 90 gsm were used for the accompanying letter and envelope. This 100% recycled premium office paper offered superb print quality whilst maintaining high standards without environmental compromise.

The job was produced at Europe's leading direct mail producer, Communisis - who managed the job at their Leeds facility.  They ran the work on a Rotoman 16pp web offset press with 4 colours and a sealer varnish to the booklet and Scitex personalisation to the accompanying letter.
