Painting the town red for 100 years
26th October 2010
With so much doom and gloom in the media it is refreshing to hear of a real success story. Award-winning Harrison's Signs Ltd is celebrating a Century in business. To achieve such staying power the company has had to embrace change and continually evolve. 100 years ago Charles Harrison and Alfred Hunter worked from modest premises on Coney Street, York, skilfully painting sale price tickets for local stores. The technology and the landscape is very different today as Harrison's now boasts in excess of thirty employees and is considered to be at the forefront of cutting-edge technology and an all-round visual communications specialist.
David Filer, Account Manager at Robert Horne explains: "I think the key to Harrison's growth and great success is the fact they champion new materials and technology and are not afraid to innovate. Harrison's has been working hand in hand with Robert Horne for a great many years and they actively look to us to keep them one step ahead. Robert Horne supplies Harrison's with a vast array of materials, from paper, inks, boards, acrylics and even a large format Vutek printer. Harrison's strong partnership with Robert Horne means they trust that we will find them the best materials to do the job, allowing them to capitalise on their excellent reputation in the sign, exhibition and visual communications industry."
In 2008 Harrison's was the proud recipient of the prestigious Press Business Award for a family business, a fitting accolade for a fourth generation family-run firm that is still going from strength to strength. It is investment in such revolutionary equipment like the Vutek that has allowed Harrison's to expand whilst others fall by the way side. This company has survived two World Wars and more than one recession and is confident that the future will see a fifth generation take the helm.
Robert Horne supplies a vast array of materials, from paper and board to plastics. A unique combination of high quality, cost effective products is supported by added value services and in-depth industry knowledge.
