Beach Signs goes large with Dibond for MTL signage

16th September 2008

Sheffield-based Beach Signs is passionate about innovation and is constantly seeking new and creative ways to produce signs. When MTL recently commissioned them to produce a range of signs consisting of giant 3 meter built-up letters they turned to Robert Horne Sign & Display to help them with their choice of materials, and together they picked Dibond as the ideal solution.

Commenting on the decision, Adam Dyson of Beach Signs says:

"We've worked with Dibond for several years, we know its fabrication and forming capabilities, so felt it was more cost effective and practical to produce built-up letters rather than in traditional aluminium or acrylic due to its stability, self coloured, weight and increased production times."

Dibond is a relatively lightweight, yet very rigid aluminium composite material, consisting of a polyethelene core and aluminium cover sheets with a thickness of 0.3mm.  Front and reverse side are coil-coated according to ECCA standards, and Dibond has a protective film on both sides, making it ideal for this project.

The finished result is an excellent example of fabrication at its best - combining an innovative approach, high quality production and the selection of the best material for the job.

"We were delighted with the outcome as was the client. So much so they ordered a further set of 1500mm high letter. We have since gone on to produce further contracts using the same production methods and have had more positive feedback" added Dyson.

Robert Horne Sign & Display has always been at the forefront when it comes to supporting their customers in making the right substrate choices.

"We recognise that our role is to help our customers become more successful - by providing reliable guidance and experience in terms of selecting the right product and advising on how to get the best from it" comments Steve Lister, Business Development Director for Robert Horne Sign & Display.

"In this case, we knew that Dibond would be an excellent choice due to its specific features. The special aluminium alloy offers increased corrosion resistance, and the super-polyester lacquer guarantees ideal printing properties.  The fact that this project was an outdoor one meant that excellent exterior stability was required - and Dibond certainly has that, within a really wide temperature range.  Lastly, all large corporates are increasingly aware of their environmental responsibilities these days, and the fact that Dibond is fully recyclable was an important factor."
